PUP’s part on the achievement of the MDGs
The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), College of Communication (CoC) in cooperation with the Voice of the Youth Network (VOTY) and Missionaries of the Child Jesus (MCJ) will be taking a simple step towards the success of the Millenium Development Goals.
Nine PUP students taking up Bachelor in Braodcast Communication namely Richardson Mojica, Envy Parubrob, AM Laurente, Mary Grace Andoque, Jesse Ruben Bibay, Abbie Cagasan, Christian Singuay and JP Carlos, took the initiatiative to hold the set of activities and programs for the target beneficiaries to cover up some of the MDGs respectively:
- Medical Mission and / or Dental Mission Reduce Child Mortality and Improve Maternal Health.
- This targets at least 60 patients (depending on the number of Doctors/ Dentists and Medicines) primarily the pregnant mothers and children below 5 y/o.
- Feeding Program Eradicate Extreme Poverty and Hunger.
- This targets to feed the Community Day Care Center with about 75 students
- Book Donation Achieve Universal Primary Education
- The group will donate pre- school and children’s books and other educational materials to the Community Day Care Center.
- Symposium regarding the MDGs
The communication campaign primarily aims to help the country and other organizations like VOTY to achieve the Eight MDGs that the United Nations have set in the year 2000. The title “Sabay Tayo tungo sa 2015!” was inspired by the song Tayo- tayo rin where in the group have given emphasis on the year 2015 to achieve the positive outlook towards the achievement of such. While the sub title inspires and reminds all that every one is a part of this goal. Camaraderie and unity will be a very powerful synergy towards the same goal.
This camaraderie and unity is much vissibe between PUP- CoC, MCJ nuns, and VOTY. All parties are working hand in hand to and taking the same road towards the accomplishment of the Millenium Development Goals.
