Congratulations to our Success!!!

April 26, 2006
sabi nga ni resty : I thank God for giving me the privilege, through
Voice of the Youth Network, to "immerse" myself
into communities such as what we had today
(Saturday, 22nd of April, 2006). A drug
rehabilitation center in the heart of Payatas. I
started the day (a bit late^_^) expecting to impart
messages to the residents inside the rehab they
call "Tahanan". I was half right. Aside from
imparting inspirational messages to these people,
without no doubt, I, on behalf of all the volunteers
that went there, learned a LOT of lessons. I am
speechless…"

GLOBAL YOUTH SERVICE DAY EVENTS

April 16, 2006

"GO FOR THE GOALS!"

The Pinoy Youth are not all about gimiks, gadgets and games. There are
those thousands all over the country working silently yet hand in hand
to fight the good fight and to achieve their goals. To alleviate
poverty, to avail of equal opportunities and to achieve of a drug -
free society are just some of the challenges youth groups and youth -
serving organizations have dedicated themselves into.

To highlight and celebrate the innate heroism of the Filipino Youth,
the Philippines is once again participating in the annual Global Youth
Service Day or GYSD 2006. From April 21 - 23, hundreds of local and
international organizations are holding various activities where young
people are given the chance to be of service to their communities.

United Nations Volunteers Philippines, Voice of the Youth Network and
Youth Power Against Drugs among other organizations is launching -
"MDGs: Laban Natin Ito!" - a volunteerism and youth fair with the
theme "Lingkod Kabataan Tungo sa Katuparan ng Millennium Development
Goals.".

The fair is followed by "KALAMPAG!" - an anti - illegal drugs
prayer rally and concert featuring live bands, performing artists and
former Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Housemates that truly support the
fight against drug addiction.

Everyone is invited join the celebration to be held in the Meditation
Area, Quezon Memorial Circle, Elliptical Road, Quezon City on April 21,
2006, Friday, 10:00AM to 10:00PM. This event is for Free!

VOICE OF THE YOUTH NETWORK INVITES YOU TO
"TAHANAN"
QUEZON CITY DRUG TREATMENT AND REHABILITATION CENTER

Last April 2005, Voice of the Youth Network has gathered more than a
hundred volunteers from different universities and organizations to
"Clean Up Hinulugang Taktak in Antipolo," a project for the Global
Youth Service Day.

This time around, VOTY in partnership with Youth Power Against Drugs
(YPAD) and United Nations Volunteers Philippines (UNV) with the Christ
the King Youth Ministry calls for young volunteer hearts for a rare
opportunity to visit and serve the residents of TAHANAN, a drug
treatment and rehabilitation center located at Molave Ext., Diamond
Hills, Payatas, B, Quezon City this April 22, Saturday from 9 am to
4pm.

The event we call, "KABATAAN: LIWANAG SA DILIM" aims to enlighten
young people, on a personal level, on the effects of drug dependency on
other individuals, young and old alike, towards the strengthening of
the campaign against illegal drugs. It also aims to make the residents
of "Tahanan" realize that there are communities ready to welcome
them with open hearts and sensitivity when they are ready to face life
once again.

Young people interested to join in this fun and fruitful service will
undergo proper orientation from anti - illegal drug advocates and
each will be assigned to portions of the program. There is no
registration fee although the organizers would appreciate voluntary
donations (in kind) for Tahanan and its residents. Volunteers are also
encouraged to participate in  "MDGs: Laban Natin Ito!"  Youth and
MDG fair and KALAMPAG anti - drug and prayer rally concert on April
21, Friday, 10am onwards, in the Meditation Area of Quezon Memorial
Circle in Quezon City.

Be the Light of the Nation! Be an Empowered Filipino Youth through
meaningful community service!
